• Exploring Natives VA ASLA Nursery Tour May 2025

  Join us for a native plant walk at one of Richmond metros’ largest nurseries. A guided tour will explore and discuss some of the many native species suitable for landscape installations in Virginia. Each participant will receive a curated list of trees, shrubs, and perennials native to Virginia grown in nurseries. We will discuss plant identification and cultural characteristics of select species along the tour. We will also provide discussions on the importance of using native plants and the need to reduce or eliminate the use of invasive plants.

   Participants can earn continuing educational credits by checking off the plants highlighted on the tour and submitting the list at the end of the tour.

  At the conclusion of the tour lunch will be provided on site by our host James River Nursery, Inc.

  Join VA ASLA for our first Open Studio tour of the year with Marvel. The studio tour will feature remarks from representatives for The City of Richmond, VA ASLA, and Marvel Partner Tyler Silvestro, ASLA, PLA. Please join the VA ASLA community and Marvel for open networking, an informal studio tour, and light refreshments.

  Marvel is a multidisciplinary MBE firm that integrates architecture, landscape architecture, planning and urban design to create contextual, enduring spaces. With offices in New York, Richmond, Barcelona and San Juan, Marvel engages authentically with diverse communities, designing everything from city streets and parks to cultural institutions and values design that results in thoughtful, durable contributions to their communities.

  The Open Studio will feature a brief firm background and project presentation, open networking, informal studio tour, and light refreshments.
